Groundwater is a good source of drinking water when a well is properly constructed and maintained. Some pathogenic bacteria and chemicals can contaminate your well. Their presence can be of natural origin or associated with human activities. As a well owner, you are responsible for ensuring that your water is safe to drink. The only way to ensure this is to regularly test the water drawn from your well.
Testing your well water annually, at least in the spring and fall, is a good habit to protect the health of your family and visitors.
