History
+

On October 23, 2019, as part of an activity organized by the Lac-Saint-Jean Native Friendship Center, the management committee and board members of the CIUSSS welcomed Mr. Pierre Picard, principal consultant of the Indigenous Psychosocial Research and Intervention Group (GRIPMA), to raise awareness about Indigenous culture and challenges, and the principle of cultural safety.

Simultaneously, the institution began the process of transferring responsibility for several health and social services from the CIUSSS of Mauricie–Centre-du-Québec to our CIUSSS for the Opitciwan community, and a project manager was appointed to oversee the management of this extensive project.

Finally, in recent years, we have strengthened our ties with the region’s Indigenous friendship centers, which have greatly raised our awareness of the difficulties Indigenous people living in urban areas face in accessing our services.
