The CMDP is considered one of the three advisory bodies to the Council of Administration. Its responsibilities are similar to those of the Council of Nurses and the Multidisciplinary Council. These responsibilities mainly aim to assess and improve the quality of professional practice in a context where participation of professionals in various activity sectors can only have a positive impact on the efficient and effective delivery of health and social services, while respecting their users’ rights.

The Council of Physicians, Dentists, and Pharmacists has several mandates, including the assessment and improvement of professional practice quality, appropriate distribution of care and services, competence evaluation and maintenance, scientific and technical organization of the health and services center and any additional mandates form the Executive Committee

The executive of the Council of Physicians, Dentists, and Pharmacists is composed of eleven leaders appointed by the General Assembly, the President and CEO, and the Director of Professional Services of the CIUSSS. The Director of Education is also invited as a representative of the affiliated universities.
