Hospitalization fees

Hospitalization fees are generally covered by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ), except for non-Canadian residents and foreign visitors.

The Quebec hospital insurance plan fully covers the hospitalization costs of Quebec residents occupying rooms with three beds or more.

The CIUSSS has private rooms that offer more privacy and tranquility. However, choosing a private or semi-private room incurs additional fees:

  • If you have personal insurance, this supplement may be fully or partially covered, depending on the terms of your policy;
  • If you request a private or semi-private room, you must pay the stipulated fees, even if a weekend leave is granted to you.
  • However, given the limited number of private and semi-private rooms, we may be obliged to transfer you to a regular room if a user’s health condition requires it.

Room fees are established according to section 10 of the Regulation of the Hospital Insurance Act of the ministry of Health and Social services.

For more information on room choice, contact the admissions service of your hospital.
