Postnatal follow-up
For who?
- New parents
In Quebec, the 2008-2018 Perinatal Policy specifies that health and social service institutions must set up a systematic follow-up program for all new parents.
Why?
- To assess you and your baby’s health and well-being
- To provide answers to questions regarding:
– Childbirth
– Breastfeeding
– Your new role as a parentTo offer support for breastfeeding
- To improve the integration of a new member into the family
- To encourage the father’s involvement
- To identify problematic situations
- To find resources, if necessary
A follow-up phone call within 24 hours after returning home, as well as a systematic visit within 24 to 72 hours after returning home.
